Hereditary and breed-specific conditions (also known as congenital conditions) are covered with American Modern.
Pet insurance can really help with coverage of these kinds of illnesses and conditions because they sometimes don’t show symptoms until later in life.

Reimbursement Method
Reimbursement choices are from a low of 70% to a high of 90%.
Reimbursements are paid on the actual vet invoice, which is preferable.
If you are looking to lower your monthly premium, then choose the lower reimbursement levels.
It is rare to offer a 100% reimbursement rate, but Figo does just that!
Wellness plans are reimbursed according to the plan you choose and are from a low of $250 to the highest reimbursement plan of $650.
Deductible Types

As the name implies, annual deductibles are paid one time each year on the first veterinary bill.

Claims Process
The Claims at American Modern are handled through Embrace and are very straight forward.
Embrace has an online portal, MyEmbrace, which allows you to directly upload your claim form. Of course, you can fax or mail it as well. They also have a mobile app that is available on IOS and Android.
Claims are generally reimbursed within two weeks after they receive all the pertinent information.
Included in your pet insurance is PawSupport that allows you to have access to vet experts if you have any questions about your pets.
Waiting Periods and Enrollment
The waiting periods for American Modern Pet Insurance are as follows:
- Accidents are 2 days, illnesses are 14 days
- Cruciate & Orthopedic Issues: 6 months (can be lowered to 14 days with the completion of orthopedic report card)
- Cats and dogs can be enrolled when they are six weeks old
- The oldest age that you can enroll dogs and cats is 14 years
Your policy will automatically renew each policy year. If you want to cancel your policy, a 2 to 4-week notice is required.
